OH MY 2 WONDERFUL SWAPS

I AM A LUCKY GIRL..

Swapping is such great fun and I love to take part..When asked to join the Halloween Tea-Party swap over at Rabbit Hollow Prims I was delighted to take part..This was only my second swap to date..My partner in the swap was Kim at Prims by Kim..In the post my brown box arrived and  I was thrilled to received this lovely COUNT TESSA and she now sits on a cubby in my keeping room..

My 3rd swap was with a new blog friend Christine at Preferably Prim..She is the most amazing hand stitcher and her work is fantastic..My box arrived and I was so excited..She sent me along so wonderful fall prims..

We call this guy *HANK* and with a crow on his shoulder is just great and looks fab next to my dough box filled with pumpkins..

AN ENGLISH COUNTRY SHOW

A TASTE OF COUNTRY LIFE IN RURAL NORTHUMBERLAND

This is Harbottle Show which is held in the Oak Tree field 300 yards from my home..it is a shepherds show and brings together the locality...We get to meet up with friends from the rural farms and crofts in the outlying hills of Coquetdale which we haven't seen all summer..It starts with the tents going up on the Wednesday and the committee work really hard to prepare the field for visitors and they build the sheep pens to accommodate the well washed and trimmed sheep for the up and coming competitions

A pic of Hayley in her kit..She is my niece and a drummer in the local pipe-band..

Everyone entering produce or artwork for the competitions have their exhibits placed in the main tent and the judging starts..This goes on for a couple of hours so the show gets underway with the ever popular terrier dog races..This is so much fun for the dogs and audience watching..

The childrens races start soon after and the competitors are all out to win..(you can see the Drakestone in the top left of the pic..an ancient healing stone)

The judging in the main tent is over and we go to see how well we have done..The boys worked extremely hard on there exhibits this year..Finley got a 1st in the craft piece..He was lethal with the glue gun mind LOL..well done..

He took another 1st in the decorated cup cakes category..Excellent..

Elliot took a 2nd place..Good boy..They sure did make a mess with the icing and piping bag but that's all part of the fun I think..

 

I entered a couple of my prims and scooped a 1st and 2nd..I was real pleased as the competition is tough..

Back out on the field is the Cumberland Wrestling Championships..The younger boys start first and then this moves right up the ages to the men..we have wrestlers who come from all over..Aberdeenshire, Cumberland and every year we have a group of young lads and lasses from France.. The day ends with the presentations of the various cups and the auction sale of the produce..Always a good day had by all..

*A FEW DECORATIONS FOR FALL*

*BACK TO THE LAND OF THE LIVING*

I am well and truly on the mend now..After a set back and a bad allergic reaction to the drugs I am feeling more like my normal self..Another week of healing and then stitches out and physio so just a couple of weeks and I will be back in the work race LOL..I am finding it difficult and frustrating just pottering around so have been getting some Fall decorations out to cheer up the place..The weather has turned decidedly cooler and the feel of Autumn is here..I added some decor to my mantle..just a Bittersweet garland, some drieds and a couple of pumpkins from last year that I dried..

Drying the pumpkins wasn't to successful as I did start with 6 various colours and sizes and only had 2 that didn't go bad..On another note I tried everywhere to get some dried Sunflowers..not a one in the length and breadth of the U.K and the lady who had them in the States didn't ship international..So whilst out at the supermarket that week they had them on offer so bought up a few stems..I thought in for a penny in for a pound nothing ventured nothing gained LOL..I looked up on the internet how to dry them and followed the instruction..I didn't even look at then for 3wks and lo and behold when I got them out they were dried to perfection and have kept their wonderful colour..I am thrilled with them..

Next I just popped a few gourds into an old dough bowl and popped it on the table..I love the colours and so simple..

The next display I keep out all year and just move it around now and again..It reminds me of witches cats and they look great in this old painted swing handled basket..
